Osiris Myth

The most influential story in Egyptian Mythology could easily be the Osiris Myth. A tale between brothers that is far from any traditional story you will hear from family and friends.
Set was born to Geb and Nut with three other siblings. Osiris is Set's brother and he was in line for the throne and title "King of Egypt". He gains the throne but immediately has troubles with his brother. Set is associated with violence and chaos and he holds a grudge. Some stories say that Osiris kicked Set as a child while others say Osiris had a relationship with Set's wife, Nephthys. All stories end the same though. Set murders his own brother and cuts the body up and scatters them all over Egypt. However,  Isis and Nephthys search long days for the body parts. Once they find them all with the help of some other gods, Isis resurrects her husband long enough to conceive a child. This baby is thoroughly protected by his mother and becomes Horus, the falcon god. Horus grows up while Set is king. Once Horus is old enough though, he challenges Set for the throne. Horus wins battle after battle and eventually kills Set.
To sum up, Set kills his brother Osiris and Osiris's son then kills Set after many years of conflict.

  1. This is a nice summary. You kept it short and to the point, but still gave enough details so that the reader can visualize the events.
